Synopsis:
An
alt party is the setting for hot hookups.
Our Review:
Porno Jim's "Hookin' Up" is the kind of title that makes one
wonder why so-called mainstream porn producers can't do more
with their considerably larger budgets and resources. Is it
really so difficult to show a real party with actual
partygoers who aren't the makeup, camera, and rest of the crew
pretending to attend?
So here we have a simple setup - a 21st birthday
party - in which people dance to music spun by an actual DJ, watch an
entertainer/MC who shoves things up his nose and swallows swords, listen to
a wacky white rapper, and, oh yeah, have sex in situations that are actually
believable and realistic.
Are Mohawks and tattoos our thing? Not really; but we'll take the baby fat,
lack of silicone, and body piercings every time over the badly acted,
impersonal sex, and lousy soundtracks.
"Hookin' Up" begins with the birthday girl and her
boyfriend (Page Morgan and Zak Sabbath) screwing every which way on their
couch. The scene is dark and grainy, which serves to soften the actual
mechanics of the goings on, and the two participants seem to genuinly enjoy
themselves. Once finished, Zak explains how he has to run off to "fight
fires" somewhere, leaving Page to hit her party solo. However, the two
obviously have an open relationship as Zak has already set up a threesome
for Page to enjoy, which comes later in the flick.
Once at the party, a rapper entertains the crowd
after being introduced by the MC. After he completes his song, females Riley
and Simone "hook up" and leave the party to head to Simone's apartment,
where they engage in some hot lesbian love. Most notable in this sequence is
that the apartment looks like and IS an actual apartment, complete with
teddy bears and funky decor fitting for its occupant. Riley returns to the
party, where a hoola-hoop performer gyrates to a cool techno beat, followed
by a sword swallowing demonstration and birthday cake ceremony for Page.
Immediately following Page's blowing out the
candles, another couple (Brina and Kenny) "hook up," beginning with kissing
on the dance floor, then poceeding to his apartment for the requisite sexual
interlude. Again, the camera work is dark and realistic, with the couple
finishing the come shot with Brina masturbating Kenny onto HIS stomach. The
capper is when Kenny asked Brina for her phone number as she's dressing to
return to the party, to which she casually says, "Nah, I don't think so." A
nice touch.
The final act begins back at the party, where
everyone's dancing and enjoying themselves. Page and Riley grab Tommy and
return to Page's pad, whereby the three partners engage in a spirited romp,
with Tommy servicing both ladies admirably before dropping his load in both
their mouths. They then lay around talking and laughing, just as people
should after a good shag.
In
summation, this is a great effort with little to no resources, yet lots of
care and heart. Certainly, the alt nature of "Hookin' Up" might not appeal
to viewers looking for more polish and fantasy, but we feel the natural
bodies, authentic sexual situations, and hot chemistry make this a must-see.
